the economy in general. the congressional budget office which is a nonpartisan group has said if we don't extend unemployment compensation, we will have 200,000 fewer jobs by the end of the year, by this time next year. and that's not the folks who are unemployed, that's because those families will not have the money to go out and buy goods and services at their local stores. so it helps -- it helps everybody to help provide some support to these struggling families who are looking for work every day and absolutely congress should not leave town. it would be outrageous for congress to leave town without addressing this important issue. >> as you know, there are only four more days on the calendar, at least right now. if you're putting the odds and if you're right that they're only 50-50 that there is some kind of deal, how do you get from point a to point b, which is a deal in these next few days, because obviously there's a lot at stake. what's going to have to happen here? >> well, these are all the pieces
